Wednesday January 18th at 6:30: All members invited to meet at the paddle hut to discuss construction of a second court. Reilley Paddle Court Company has provided specs and a proposal for a new court, a revised site plan has been developed and will be ready for input, and a tentative plan for budgeting will be presented by members Carley, Lewis, Campbell and Dignan. Please try to attend; your input and support will be greatly appreciated.

Ladies Drop In Afternoon was a huge success. Sally Sulloway organized a ladies drop-in last Wednesday, January 11. They played from 4:30 to 6:30 with 15 ladies attending. Watch for Sally’s emails for the next ladies’ event, coming up soon, or email Sally.

Welcome new members: Dick Balkite and Scott Rafferty

Men’s Night Paddle Thursday from 6-9 has been men’s night for the third year. Play has been fast and competitive. Peter Lewis and Dave Carley lead the charge and will be scheduling food for the event.

Saturday morning drop-in play from 10:00 to 12:00: Hope you can join in the fun. This is a particularly good time for newer members to get to meet other members. 9:00-10:00 is a clinic for new players. Have your friends contact Bill Dignan for a reservation.

Snow Removal The storm on Thursday brought four inches of wet snow. We shoveled the court because the snow was too heavy for the snow blower. Thanks you, Bob Bogard. Normally the snow blowers are the best way to clear the court quickly. However, they do not work with heavy wet snow. The shovels and snow blower are in the shed. Use the four wide push shovels; they are much easier to use than standard snow shovels.

Court heaters –Thanks to Dave Carley the heaters have been repaired and are ready to melt any ice on the court. The club will be working with a new supplier who will service all the heaters on a regular basis. The stove in the clubhouse has been fixed and should be trouble free as well. Remember, only change the temperature setting when you open the hut, then turn down the thermostat when you leave. Don Booth: Thank you for the gift of the refrigerator. Please remember to take all food out with you when you leave and place any condiments back in the refrigerator.

Wednesday night meeting: We want everyone to come to discuss second court and land purchase so we can develop a proposal for vote at a later date. The objective is to come up with creative ideas and support for a second court. It is not a vote or detailed formal proposal. It is not for people to shoot holes in process and argue against expansion. That can come at formal proposal and voting stage. Our club has many people and many view points which will be expressed in the process at some point. Wednesday night is about how to succeed and what resources we need. This topic to propose a second court and buy land is a very important and exciting opportunity. Come with your ideas and tough questions so we can create a strong proposal with proper backing. Thanks, Greg.

PS this needs to be positive event.

Next Wednesday at the paddle hut we are having a meeting to discuss a #2 court and ask people to lend money to the club at a good rate. We already have a good number of people willing and able. The focus of meeting will be to discuss new court and develop ways to pay for it over time. There is large support for second court and court #1 has become extremely busy. Please come with your ideas and support. The meeting is to discuss Land and court #2. After we have a game plan we will submit to club/board for a vote. Thanks to our on-going membership drive lead by Bill Dignan we are now in a place to consider expansion. BYOB. Come enjoy the growth of the club! Note the topic is specific to expansion of second court and land. Thank you, hope to see you there! Greg.

If some of us bring some food and another bunch bring drinks, those who aren’t playing will be enjoying watching the paddle from inside our lovely warming hut. If you have friends who’d like to see what YPTC is like, bring them along. If we have a lot of people, we’ll play 4 games, then rotate. Otherwise, we’ll probably play no-ad sets. Thanks, Sally
